Raising AWARENESS
Girls all over the world have started foundations for girls education. Most foundations are to raise money for their cause, in this case there is girls education. But, sometimes they start one to raise awareness about other children. Some foundations are for lots of things such as bullying, child labor, or environmental problems.
The Malala Fund
The Malala Fund is a fund that was created by seventeen year Malala Yousafzai. Malala was 11 years old when she was denied an education. She fought to get it back. She used many resources to get it back, one was The Malala Fund. On November 10, 2012 (Now known as “Malala Day”), Malala started the Malala Fund. The Malala Fund is a fund dedicated to children and getting an Education. Malala started this fund because she was once denied an education. She was forced to leave her school by the Taliban. Because of her fund she has won the Nobel Peace Prize and was given the Women of The Year by US Glamour.
Girl Up
Girl Up is a movement inviting girls to help change the world. A girl named, Annie Gersh heard of Girl Up and immediately collaborated with some friends at school. Her way of changing the world was by helping children earn an education. To support her cause she went to Guatemala with her team. Annie was so moved by her experience she says “This week I’ve been able to meet many inspiring girls in Girl Up supported programs. This trip has reinforced for me the power and importance for all girls to receive an education. Girls who were learning to read and write in these programs are empowered to learn about their rights and become leaders.” Annie was the youngest girls to join Girl Up at the age of 13. And she has earned about $5,000 through her online page.
